A 700-year-old canoe discovered on a sandbar in Arkansas and painstakingly restored at Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site is the centerpiece of a new permanent exhibit opening Sunday at the site.

Centuries-Old Canoe's Journey Continues at Cahokia Mounds

700-year-old canoe is lifted from a tank where it has been resting for three years as part of the preservation process. It will have to dry for at least a year before it can be displayed at the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site in Collinsville.
