Authors James and Carol Cunkle operated Raven Site Ruin, a prehistoric Indian site in east/central Arizona on the Little Colorado River. Prehistoric seeds found at the Ruin inspired an ethnobotanical garden that featured native plants, which provided inspiration for the product line “Kokopelli’s Kitchen” and this cookbook. James Cunkle hand-illustrated more than 50 reproductions of original Mimbres art for this book.
