Cahokia Mounds Legislation Introduced
Last week Senator Dick Durbin and Senator Tammy Duckworth introduced legislation requesting a Special Resource Study for a Cahokia Mounds Mississippian Culture National Historical Park. A Special Resource Study will help the National Park Service determine the national significance and feasibility of the proposed National Park. For the past 10 years, HeartLands Conservancy and numerous partners and collaborators have been pushing for a National Park Service designation for the World Heritage Site and other Mississippian Culture Mounds in the St. Louis region.
