As we approach the coldest part of the year, it is important to remember that sledding, as well as recreational vehicle use, at Cahokia Mounds is strictly prohibited. The mounds at the site, as well as the landscape itself, are sacred to Native Americans. We honor this and preserve the grounds to the best of our ability. We ask for the community to respect this policy and join us in our preservation of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and US National Historic Landmark by avoiding prohibited activities on the grounds.”
