Summer Solstice Sunrise Observance
Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site rings in the Summer season with the Summer Solstice Sunrise Observance. Join archaeologist Bill Iseminger at the Woodhenge reconstruction for a discussion about the discovery and significance of this Pre-Columbian structure. Woodhenge is a post-circle made from red cedar logs used to document seasonal changes in the Mississippian culture. Out of respect toward Native American cultures, no ceremonies will be conducted.
Meet at Woodhenge reconstruction at 5:20am
This event is FREE and open to the public.
