Cahokia Mounds Museum Society (CMMS) is the support group for Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, Collinsville, IL. CMMS mission is to promote for the public benefit the educational and scientific aspects of Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site and its associated sphere. The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors, and works with State staff, community partners, and CMMS staff. The ED will hold operational responsibility for financial management, membership program, fundraising and other development programs, event planning, grant administration, land acquisition program, marketing, and advertising. The ED role will largely be to champion the vision, mission, and goals of the Board of Directors and act as chief advocate for the CMMS and the State Historic Site.
Requires bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or related field, archaeology experience preferred, not required. Requires administrative experience managing a non-profit or small for-profit entity, or similar knowledge. A strong understanding of Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site and its prehistory is required. Must be able to exercise judgement and discretion in developing and implementing projects that will further the CMMS mission as well as maintain current projects. Requires strong skills in self-motivation, written, verbal, and social media communication. Confidence and effective communication with community members, donors, corporate contacts, volunteers are required. Experience with Adobe image products and graphic layout products is preferred.
This is a full-time position with vacation, flex-time, mileage compensation, and IRA matching.
