Mississippian Conference 2016

The Mississippian Conference is a full day event featuring 15-minute presentations on recent research related to the Mississippian culture or Cahokia Mounds.  This event will take place on July 30, in the Interpretive Center Auditorium.  Seating is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  Registration begins at 8:30 with presentations beginning at 9:00.  Fee is $5.  The incomplete list consists of the following presentations: Don Booth (SCI Engineering, Inc.); Recent Investigations at the Mitchell Site (11MS30) Ken Williams…

Boeing Native American Culture Series

The first event in the Boeing Native American Culture Series, presented by, Employees Community Fund of Boeing and Cahokia Mounds Museum Society will take place October 15 at 2 pm. City of the Sun 5K and 1-Mile Walk

The Annual City of the Sun 5K and 1-Mile Walk will be held on the Cahokia Mounds Trails on November 6.  The race begins at 9 am and registration begins at 8.  All registrants will receive a Cahokia Mounds cell phone/device armband.   All proceeds will fund the Support Group's mission of preserving and interpreting the site with outreach events, land acquisition, research, and educational programs.   The Run/Walk is a great way to enjoy the cultural and natural aspects of the…

Annual Holiday Market

A very special holiday shopping event is taking place at Cahokia Mounds beginning at noon on Friday, November 25 through Sunday, November 27.   Over 30 Native American artists will be here to sell their handmade arts and crafts.  Many different tribal affiliations and media will be represented.  Some will be old favorites that have participated in this event in previous years, but there will also be new artists.  Items include pottery, paintings, jewelry, mixed-media items, sculpture and more.  The hours are…

Kids Day

Kids Day is a family hands-on event.  Activities include flintknapping, making pinch pots, corn-grinding, throwing spears with atlatl, identifying animal pelts and tracks, face painting, storytelling, cordage making, and T-shirt making.   Tap Snap will have a free souvenir photo booth available in the lobby.   This is a free event.  Parking will be across the street in the Warehouse parking lot with shuttle service to the Museum.
