This Calendar of Events represents activities scheduled as of this date but it is continually being updated with additional events, programs and workshops.
There is no admission fee but a suggested donation of $4 for adults and $2 for children ($10 max. per family). Our events and programs are free, unless otherwise noted. Workshops and classes require pre-registration and fees paid to the instructors. For more information, call 618-346-5160.

Missouri Atlatl Association Competition & Demonstration

The Missouri Atlatl Association hosts its annual competition and demonstration of the ancient spear throwing device 10am-4pm.

American Indian Educational Days

Indian Individuals and groups demonstrate and sell crafts, provide educational information, and offer hands-on activities for kids 10 am - 5 pm.

Cahokia Archaeological Society Meeting

The Cahokia Archaeological Society is a local chapter of the Illinois Association for Advancement of Archaeology, an organization for amateurs, professionals, students and educators interested in the archaeology of Illinois. CAS meets the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm, with a speaker or video on archaeological or Indian topics, and a business meeting. Prior to the meeting, some members arrive by 6:30 pm to help wash artifacts from one of the excavations at Cahokia Mounds. Fall Equinox Sunrise Observance

Hear an explanation of the discovery, form and function of the ancient post circle calendar. Arrive by 6:30am a the reconstructed Woodhenge.

Nature/Culture Hike

3-mile hike with an archaeologist and a naturalist through ecological and archaeological zones. 9:30am -1pm. Bring water and dress for the weather. Canceled if raining.

Artifact Identification Day

Bring in artifacts for archaeologists to examine and determine age, culture, function and material. No monetary appraisals given. Noon-4pm.
